It’s often hard to determine where to splurge and when to save when it comes to wedding planning. I am very fortunate to have had a run of wonderful weddings recently, and something I feel compelled to offer my insight on is hotel rooms on your wedding day.

Splurge on a nice hotel room for your wedding day!

-The extra space will provide sanity and escape when you need some peace, alone time or private time with a loved one before a busy day.

-If you’re expecting lunch, flowers or other wedding day deliveries the assistance of a bellman with a cart will be much appreciated.

-If you are bringing things with you from the hotel to the venue, this remains true.

-Beautiful hotel rooms provides good backdrops for photos of your attire, you preparing for your wedding day and getting dressed. Often times nice hotels will have rooftops, gardens or outdoor spaces that offer spectacular views for pre-ceremony photos. A September bride got ready at the James Hotel in SoHo and the views of Manhattan from their rooftop bar, Jimmy, were magnificent.

-If you haven’t ordered lunch or thought of champagne, at luxury hotels, both are often just a phone call away.

-A suite provides a central location to have hair and make-up done. Professionals need chairs, tables, good light and space in general to do their job well. Your family and friends will appreciate not being on top of one another as they eat, practice toasts, primp and enjoy the day with you.

-The service of a quality property will come in handy when you want the room refreshed, so at the end of the reception or after-party you can return to a tidy room on your wedding night.

An October couple stayed at the Andaz Hotel on Wall Street. It was a perfect location for their Brooklyn wedding at The Green Building.  Minus a bit of construction and the protests,  the hotel was perfect, the suite was excellent, the bride’s dress had a room of it’s own, it had a huge living area, dining room and even a dishwasher!

Happy planning!
