It was a great afternoon at the The Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday. Brooklyn Betrothed’s beloved Kristina Hill and Anni Bruno exhibited their work at the Lovesick Expo produced by Hi Society Productions.  RebeccaRuth and I came to check it out and show our support. It was great seeing many of our friends, neighbors, wedding colleagues and couples who were planning their weddings.  I enjoyed a bite of chicken and waffle from Sips and Bites.  Other fun discoveries of the day include: the merchandise from Whisk— a kitchen store in Brooklyn with one due to open in Manhattan. They offer wedding registries and also order pretty, fun. table top and decor items in bulk for couples who are styling their own receptions.  The Vintage Rental Company rents vintage items for weddings and special events. It’s a good alternative for those who don’t have the time or desire to do the leg work to source the sought after vintage typewriters, chairs or suitcases they might be longing for as they try to create a vintage inspired wedding. You-toon creates fun and personalized animated films perfect for original proposals and electronic save the dates. Tree of Life Films gets our branding award of the day. I’d be tempted to hire this company based soley on the presentation of their business cards.  Kiss the Bride Films makes beautiful, quality wedding videos. Giant Squid Press has an edgy, funky and high quality approach to typography and letterpress. Kristina and I met a representative from the Gowanus Print Lab; they are promoting a DIY Wedding invitation opportunity. Check back on the blog later this week for the details.

Some of our favorite venues were also on hand– I am happy to report that the guys behind the The Farm On Adderley and neighboring Sycamore are as nice as their spaces are cool! Yeah, Brooklyn!

After the show Kristina and I ended up next door, at Cubana Social for a late brunch and cocktail. The restaurant also rents their lofty industrial-feeling space for private events. The food was good and it’s a location to consider for a rehearsal dinner.
Thanks to all the vendors and  couples who I had a chance to talk to. It was a fun day and a great way to start the new year.
